Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi, visited recently the Hawiyah NGL Recovery Plant (HNRP) site and got a firsthand look at the progress being made. Al-Naimi and several ministry officials started the visit with a presentation by Ali A. Al-Ajmi, vice president of Project Management. Al-Ajmi gave the delegation an overview of the mega-projects Saudi Aramco is undertaking and the innovative contracting strategy put in place to expedite the design, engineering and construction of this project. The main facility in the Hawiyah NGL Program is the HNRP, a new grassroots NGL recovery facility located approximately five kilometers east of the existing Hawiyah Gas Plant (HGP). HNRP will recover 310,000 barrels per day of NGL from the four billion standard cubic feet per day of sales gas produced from the Hawiyah and Haradh Gas Plants. The first NGL train in HNRP is scheduled for completion in October 2007, one month ahead of the planned completion date. Al-Naimi expressed his confidence in the people working on the project and praised their commitment to delivering a world-class facility in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner. He also recognized the vital training and development opportunities that were being made available through this project for the young Saudi generation. Among those attending the reception held for the visitors were Salim S. Al-Aydh, senior vice president of Engineering and Operations Services; Yusof Rafie, senior vice president of Gas Operations; Mohammad A. Hammad, manager of HNRP Projects; Mohammad A. Al-Said, HNRP Operations manager; and members of the Hawiyah NGL Recovery Program team, according to a report on Saudi Aramco web-site.
