U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan "strongly condemns" the double bus bombing in Beersheba, Israel today that killed at least 15 people and wounded over 80 others, spokesman Stephan Dujarric said. "The Secretary-General calls on the Palestinian Authority to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice and put an end to such heinous crimes," said Dujarric. The U.N. Security Council also condemned the "tragic event" in a statement read after this morning's meeting by current council president Audrey Denisov of Russia. Denisov added that there have been a number of global, well-planned attacks from "terrorist circles related to al-Qaeda." He cited last week's double airplane bombing in Russia as well as attacks in Afghanistan.
