U.S. SECRETARY OF DEFENSE DONALD RUMSFELD IS MAKING A PREVIOUSLY UNANNOUNCED VISIT TO TAJIKISTAN STARTING MONDAY FOR TALKS WITH THE EX-SOVIET REPUBLIC'S PRESIDENT, A FOREIGN MINISTRY OFFICIAL SAID. RUMSFELD WAS TO ARRIVE LATE MONDAY FOR A BRIEF VISIT TO DISCUSS «A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES, INCLUDING REGIONAL SECURITY» WITH PRESIDENT EMOMALI RAKHMONOV, SAID FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESMAN IGOR SATTAROV. THE VISIT HAD NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED BEFORE MONDAY, ACCORDING TO A REPORT OF THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.
