FIVE NEPALESE UN SOLDIERS WERE RELEASED SIX WEEKS AFTER BEING ABDUCTED BY MILITIA IN EAST CONGO, REPORTS SAID SUNDAY IN KINSHASA, ACCORDING TO DPA. TWO OTHER ABDUCTED SOLDIERS HAD BEEN RELEASED EARLIER, CONFIRMED THE UNITED NATION'S MISSION IN THE CONGO. THE UNITED NATIONS MISSION AND THE CONGOLESE ARMY ARE PROCEEDING AGAINST THE REMAINING MILITIA IN EAST CONGO WHO ARE TERRORIZING THE CIVILIANS IN THE REGION. A UN SOLDIER FROM NEPAL WAS KILLED DURING A MILITARY OPERATION IN LATE MAY. MEANWHILE, A CONGOLESE JOURNALIST HAS BEEN SHOT DEAD IN THE CAPITAL KINSHASA. THE 64-YEAR-OLD JOURNALIST, WHO IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE AND FOUR CHILDREN, HAD RETURNED HOME IN 2005 FROM FRANCE AND HAD PUBLISHED SEVERAL ARTICLES CRITICIZING THE REGIME.
