Pakistan and Turkey have expressed the resolve to further intensify and consolidate defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries, said an official statement. This was agreed during the 4th Meeting of Pakistan-Turkey High Level Military Dialogue Group (HLMDG). Pakistan's Defence Secretary Lt-Gen (Retd) Tariq Waseem Ghazi and Deputy Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Isik Kosaner co-chaired the meeting. Ghazi welcomed the Turkish delegation and highlighted the areas of cooperation in the field of defence. He said that Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed very close and cordial relationship in political, economic, defence and technical fields which needed to be further strengthened particularly in the field of defence. He thanked the Turkish people and Government for their generous assistance provided to the earthquake victims of Pakistan. The Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff highlighted the historical perspective of the close relations existed between Pakistan and Turkey. He said that relations between the two countries were being strengthened day-by-day and the current HLMDG meeting would give further impetus to improving the existing friendly relations based on mutual understanding.
