SABIC awarded an eight-month contract to a Saudi contractor to design and construct a corniche park at Yanbu Al-Bahr beach. Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO said, "SABIC has pledged to bear the costs of constructing this park as announced during the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah BinAbdulaziz, to Yanbu Industrial City last year where he laid foundation stones for Yanbu-2 city, launched SABIC's projects and other projects." This park will be located on the Yanbu north Corniche beach, and covers an area of about sixty thousand square meters. It will include green areas with a number of illuminated walkways and comfortable seats for rest and recreation as well as modern children's games along the beach. Under the contract, the infrastructure of public services shall be developed and made available to the Yanbu province municipality by project end. This initiative falls within SABIC's Corporate Social Responsibility framework. SABIC has always been participating in national cultural events, and continues to contribute and donate to charities and humanitarian projects, and to sponsor, economic, scientific and cultural forums, according to a press release of SABIC issued here yesterday.
