CHINESE PREMIER WEN JIABAO ARRIVED IN ACCRA ON SUNDAY FOR A TWO-DAY VISIT AND IMMEDIATELY PLUNGED INTO A CLOSED-DOOR MEETING WITH GHANAIAN PRESIDENT JOHN AGYEKUM KUFUOR, ACCORDING TO DPA. GHANA IS THE FIRST STEP ON WHAT IS TO BE A SEVEN-NATIONA AFRICAN TOUR AND IT IS ALSO THE FIRST VISIT BY A CHINESE PREMIER TO THE COUNTRY IN 42 YEARS. GHANA FOREIGN MINISTRY OFFICIALS SAID KUFUOR AND WEN WOULD SIGN A NUMBER OF BILATERAL AGREEMENTS ON ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION. BOTH LEADERS WOULD ALSO WITNESS THE HANDING OVER OF A HIGHWAY OUTSIDE ACCRA BUILT WITH AN INTEREST-FREE CHINESE LOAN. WEN IS ALSO TO VISIT EGYPT, TANZANIA, UGANDA, ANGOLA, SOUTH AFRICA AND CONGO BRAZZAVILLE DURING HIS AFRICAN TOUR.
