A LANDSLIDE IN SOUTHWESTERN CHINA ENGULFED AND KILLED NINE PEOPLE SUNDAY, THE OFFICIAL XINHUA NEWS AGENCY SAID.
THE LANDSLIDE ALSO LEFT FIVE PEOPLE INJURED AND TWO OTHERS MISSING IN KANGDING COUNTY'S SHIJI TOWN IN SICHUAN PROVINCE, XINHUA SAID.
NEARLY 100 CUBIC METERS (3,531 CUBIC FEET) OF ROCKS FELL
IN SLIDE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING, THE REPORT SAID.
RESCUERS WERE SEARCHING FOR THE MISSING PEOPLE AND AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE OF THE LANDSLIDE WAS UNDER WAY, XINHUA REPORTED.
