POLICE SEARCHED A LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING NEXT TO THE US CAPITOL FOR HOURS FRIDAY AFTER A CALLER REPORTED HEARING GUNFIRE IN THE GARAGE, POLICE SAID, DPA REPORTED. POLICE, SOME ARMED WITH AUTOMATIC WEAPONS, COMBED THE RAYBURN OFFICE BUILDING, ONE OF A CLUSTER OF THREE FOR MEMBERS OF THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THEIR STAFFERS. AFTER MORE THAN THREE HOURS, NOTHING SUSPICIOUS HAD TURNED UP. "WE'RE GOING DOOR TO DOOR, FLOOR BY FLOOR," CAPITOL POLICE SPOKESWOMAN KIMBERLY SCHNEIDER TOLD REPORTERS. "EVERY SQUARE INCH OF THE RAYBURN BUILDING IS GOING TO BE CLEARED OUT TODAY." POLICE WERE INVESTIGATING WHETHER SHOTS WERE ACTUALLY FIRED, AND NO INJURIES OR ARRESTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED, SHE SAID. AFTER SEALING OFF THE BUILDING ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CAPITOL, POLICE WENT IN TO IDENTIFY AND QUESTION EVERYONE INSIDE BEFORE LETTING THEM, SHE SAID.
