Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), will participate as a guest of honour in the meeting of the High-level Group for the Alliance of Civilizations, to be held in Dakar, capital of Senegal. In this three-day meeting, which will start on Sunday, the Group will discuss various topics, including comprehensive and cross-cultural education, the international dimensions of education and the presentation of peoples' specificities and culture in curricula, the integration of social, human and natural sciences in all educational stages, the integration of the teaching of religions and the principles of intercultural dialogue in educational programmes, the incorporation of the concepts of voluntary and civil work in educational curricula, literacy, and the activation of the citizen's role in the process of development. The High-level Group was nominated by United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan. It is composed of twenty prominent leaders in the fields of politics, academia, civil society, international finance, and media from all regions of the world. Prof. Federico Mayor, ex-Director General of UNESCO, is the Co-Chair of the Group.
