Pakistani Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan leaves for Singapore on Sunday to attend a two-day Conference of Pakistan's Regional Envoys from Far East and Southeast Asian region, says an official statement. Minister of State and Export Promotion Bureau Chairman Tariq Ikram is included in the trade delegation. The conference is being held in pursuance of Pakistan's Trade Policy to promote commercial relations especially in the East Asian region. Pakistan's envoys and commercial representatives in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam will gather to share their experiences, opinions and analysis and contribute to formulate market access strategy, trade promotion initiatives and foreign direct investments for Pakistan. They will discuss the market access agreement of Pakistan under their jurisdiction with other countries, future outlook of trade relations of Pakistan with these countries. Obstacles, bottlenecks and opportunities for Pakistan's exports and suggestions for better market access will also be discussed. Assessment on attracting investments from these countries to Pakistan is also on the agenda. Apart from chairing the conference, the Commerce Minister's engagements include a lecture on “Pakistan's Economic Transition: Strategies, Challenges and Prospects” at the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore, call on the President of Singapore, the Senior Minister and call on Lim Hng Kiang, Singapore Minister of Trade and Industry.
