SWITZERLAND HAS RECALLED ALL OF THE STAFF AT ITS EMBASSY IN PAKISTAN OVER A VISA SCAM DISCOVERED IN MARCH, FOREIGN OFFICE SPOKESWOMAN TASNEEM ASLAM SAID FRIDAY. "SWISS AUTHORITIES HAVE INFORMED OUR MISSION IN BERN THAT THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE STAFF OF THE EMBASSY IN ISLAMABAD," SHE TOLD DEUTSCHE PRESSE-AGENTUR DPA. DURING HER VISIT TO ISLAMABAD EARLY THIS MONTH, SWISS FOREIGN MINISTER MICHELINE CALMY-REY ADMITTED THE MISSION IN ISLAMABAD HAD BEEN TARGETED BY A CRIMINAL NETWORK ALSO ENGAGED IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING. SHE ALSO ANNOUNCED THE CLOSURE OF THE VISA SECTION UNTIL THE INQUIRY WAS COMPLETED. ASLAM SAID THE SWISS AUTHORITIES MADE THE DECISION TO REPLACE THE EMBASSY STAFF AFTER THE INVESTIGATION, LAUNCHED BOTH IN PAKISTAN AND SWITZERLAND.
