Mexico will complain to the Bush administration about plans to build security fences and temporarily deploy National Guard troops along the Mexican-U.S. border to slow illegal immigration, Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Ernesto Derbez said on Thursday. Mexico's government has pushed for sweeping immigration reforms to help millions of Mexicans work legally in the Untied States, but officials fear Washington is now moving in the opposite direction. Derbez said Mexico would send a letter protesting the plans to build new walls and send the National Guard to the 3,200-kilometer border that hundreds of thousands of Mexicans illegally cross every year in search of jobs.
