President General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan received at the presidential palace on Thursday visiting Saudi Shoura Council Chairman Dr. Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid and his delegation. At the outset of the meeting, President Musharraf welcomed bin Homaid, wishing him good stay in his second country. President Musharraf lauded the efforts exerted by the Saudi Governmenet to help alleviate the sufferings of needy Pakistanis in quake-hit areas. In his own name and on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, President Musharraf expressed appreciaiton of and gratitude to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for assisting their brethren in Pakistan during this disaster. On his part, Dr. Salih conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz to the Pakistani leaadership. In turn, President Musharraf sent his greetings to the monach and crown prince. Bin Homaid also thanked the President for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation since their arrival in Pakistan. During the meeting, they exhanged cordial talks and dealt with matters concerning bilateral relations in various fields between the two brotherly countries of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and ways of enhancing further cooperation, particularly in the parliamentary field. Pakistan Senate (Upper House of Parliament) Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro and Saudi Ambassador in Islamabad Ali Awadh Asseri attended the meeting. -- SPA
