ALIGATORS HAVE KILLED AT LEAST THREE PEOPLE IN FLORIDA OVER THE LAST WEEK, THE LATEST VICTIM A 23-YEAR-OLD WOMAN, LOCAL MEDIA REPORTED MONDAY, DPA REPORTED. THE LATEST INCIDENT HAPPENED 60 KILOMETRES SOUTHEAST OF GAINSVILLE IN FLORIDA. THE WOMAN WAS ATTACKED WHILE SNORKELING, THE GAINSVILLE SUN REPORTED. FRIENDS MANAGED TO FREE HER FROM THE ALLIGATOR'S GRASP, BUT SHE SOON DIED OF HER INJURIES. THE BODY OF A 43-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS FOUND SUNDAY, WITH CLEARLY IDENTIFIABLE BITE MARKS, IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA, ONE DAY AFTER AUTHORITIES SAID THEY HAD CAUGHT THE 180-KILOGRAMME ALLIGATOR THAT KILLED ANOTHER WOMAN LAST TUESDAY. THE DISMEMBERED BODY OF 28-YEAR-OLD JOGGER YOVY SUAREZ JIMINEZ WAS FOUND FLOATING IN A CANAL THE FOLLOWING DAY IN SUNRISE, BROWARD COUNTY. AN AUTOPSY WAS ALSO BEING CONDUCTED ON THE BODY OF A 28-YEAR-OLD WOMAN MONDAY WHO MAY HAVE DIED FROM AN ALLIGATOR ATTACK. ZOOLOGIST KENT VILLET TOLD THE SUN THAT ALLIGATORS ARE NORMALLY AFRAID OF PEOPLE, BUT THAT THEY CAN BECOME AGGRESSIVE DURING SPRING'S MATING SEASON. ABOUT 25 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN FLORIDA BY ALLIGATORS SINCE 1948.
