AT LEAST 14 PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 18 INJURED IN TWO ROAD CRASHES IN INDIA'S SOUTHERN ANDHRA PRADESH STATE ON THURSDAY, DPA. POLICE SAID EIGHT FARM WORKERS WERE KILLED IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THURSDAY WHEN A TRUCK THEY WERE TRAVELLING IN OVERTURNED IN THE KRISHNA DISTRICT, 300 KILOMETRES EAST OF STATE CAPITAL HYDERABAD. THREE OTHERS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT WERE RUSHED TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL. IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT IN THE STATE THIS MORNING, SIX PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 15 INJURED IN A ROAD ACCIDENT IN THE EASTERN KHAMAM DISTRICT, THE AGENCY REPORTED. A BUS CRASHED INTO A TRACTOR IN WHICH A GROUP OF PEOPLE WERE TRAVELLING, CAUSING THE DEATHS. THERE HAS BEEN A MARKED INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS IN ANDHRA PRADESH. THE ACCIDENTS WERE BLAMED ON RECKLESS DRIVING AND POOR MAINTENANCE OF ROADS AND VEHICLES.
