SEVENTEEN PEOPLE INCLUDING 11 SCHOOLCHILDREN WERE INJURED WHEN A BOMB EXPLODED NEXT TO A SCHOOL SERVICE BUS IN THE EASTERN TURKISH TOWN OF HAKKARI WEDNESDAY, THE ANADOLU NEWS AGENCY WAS QUOTED BY DPA AS REPORTING. THE MILITARY SERVICE BUS WAS CARRYING THE CHILDREN OF SERVING SOLDIERS IN THE REGION WHEN A BOMB PLACED NEAR AN ELECTRICITY TRANSFORMER EXPLODED. ALONG WITH 11 CHILDREN ON THE BUS, FIVE SOLDIERS AND A PASSER-BY WERE ALSO INJURED, ANADOLU REPORTED. THE NTV TELEVISION STATION REPORTED THAT THE KURDISH WORKERS' PARTY (PKK) WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BOMB ATTACK. MORE THAN 32,000 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED SINCE THE PKK STARTED IN THE EARLY 1980S ITS FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE OR AUTONOMY FOR THE MAINLY KURDISH-POPULATED SOUTH-EAST. -
