The United States and Canada have agreed to a framework deal that could resolve a long-running trade dispute over Canadian softwood lumber exports, a Canadian television network reported. CBC Television said legal details of the agreement have not yet been worked out. The network said Canada would get back about 80 percent of disputed duties the United States had collected so far on Canadian lumber exports. The two countries disagree on whether Canada's provinces are subsidizing lumber producers by charging below-market rates to log forests.
