The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the top four importers of softwood lumber in the GCC, who, along with Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE have collectively imported a total of 2.8 million cubic meters of the product - equivalent to $576.6 million - in 2007, according to recent reports.
In addition to softwood lumber, Saudi Arabia and the other three Gulf states are also major importers of hardwood plywood, with shipments from the Far East region reaching a total of $199.1 million in 2007. During the same period, the top four importers have purchased $193.3 million worth of medium-density fibreboard (MDF); builder's joinery products with a total value of $145.4 million; and 263,491 cubic meters of hardwood lumber, which amounted to $107.8 million.
In line with aims to leverage the need for wood working technologies as a result of the high demand for wood products in the region, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organizer of the show has announced the participation of Abdul-Aziz Ahmed Bin Abdul-Rahman Est., a Saudi-based player, at the ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show 2009', which is slated to run from April 21 to 23, 2009 at the Central & East Hall of the Dubai Airport Expo.
Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, organizer of the show, has announced the participation of Abdul Aziz Ahmed Bin Abdul Rahman Est., a Saudi-based player, at show.
Having recorded significant and consistent annual growth in terms of exhibition area that signify the growing number of global exhibitors, the show will offer Saudi buyers an opportunity to network with established wood products suppliers from across the globe.
“The participation of companies as well as trade visitors from across the continents, speaks volumes of the relevance of the ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show 2009' to the international wood and wood working sector,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, managing director, Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions. “We have seen the importance of a steady supply of high quality wood products in the construction of property developments in Saudi Arabia, and it is our aim to give Saudi-based customers access to high quality products from globally renowned suppliers.”
Abdul Aziz Ahmed Bin Abdul-Rahman Est. will be showcasing PYTHA 3D CAD System V19 - a software for planning, presentation and production of furniture, houses and interiors, exhibition booths or and other products. The application consists of the powerful 3D modeling module for planning and production pre-processing and the virtual reality module RadioLab for presentation. In addition to wood exporters and manufacturers of woodworks machineries, the show also serves as an effective launch pad for technology-driven solutions for the global wood sector.
First staged in 2006, the show has successfully built a reputation as the premier event for the latest technologies and innovation on the wood and wood processing sector. __
