Secretary General of the Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Dr Ekmeleddin Ihsan-Oglu has expressed satisfaction over the election of Jalal Al-Talbani as the President of Iraq as well as over the contents of the speech which he delivered at his swearing-in ceremony. "This development means that matters have have been handed over in hands of honest people in Iraq', he said in a cable of congratulations to Al-Talbani. Ihsan-Oglu has also sent similar cables of congratulations to Jawad al-Maliki, who has been asked to form the new Iraqi government and to Dr Mahmoud Mash'hadani who has been elected as the speaker of the Iraqi council of deputies.
