U.S.Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Tuesday he has not considered resigning as a result of the spike in recent criticism by retired military generals of his leadership. Rumsfeld told reporters at a Pentagon press briefing that President George W. Bush will decide on whether the defense secretary will stay on the job. “The president knows, as I know, there are no indispensable men,” Rumsfeld said. “He knows that I serve at his pleasure, and that's that.” Earlier Tuesday, Bush once again affirmed his support for Rumsfeld, forcefully interrupting a reporter who hadn't yet asked his question at the White House. “I'm the decider and I decide what's best,” Bush said. “And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as Secretary of Defense.”
