Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hoseini-Khamenei has urged the Muslim world to view the Palestinian issue as its major cause. In an address at an international conference held here to support the Palestinian people, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the importance of establishing a Palestinian state on the Palestinian territory, and said all attempts of the US, Britain and Israel to wipe out Palestine from the world map have culminated into failure. In the speech carried by the Iranian media today Ayatollah Khamenei lauded the resistance of the Palestinian people and the sacrifices they had made saying that 'it is an essential matter for the Muslim nation to extend all possible support to the Palestinian people'. He called on the United States to withdraw its troops from Iraq so as to enable the Iraqi people choose their own government. He also called on the US to respect the Palestinian elected government and to prevent Israel from undermining the situation in the Middle East region.
