LIBERAL YULIA TYMOSHENKO, BOLSTERED BY A STRONG ELECTION SHOWING, PRESSED ON WEDNESDAY FOR A QUICK DEAL WITH UKRAINE'S PRESIDENT TO RESTORE AN 'ORANGE' COALITION AND KEEP OUT POLITICAL FORCES SYMPATHETIC TO MOSCOW, REUTERS REPORTED. TYMOSHENKO HAD THE BEST RESULTS AMONG LIBERALS, OUTSCORING THE OUR UKRAINE PARTY OF PRESIDENT VIKTOR YUSHCHENKO. TYMOSHENKO STOOD ALONGSIDE YUSHCHENKO IN THE 'ORANGE REVOLUTION' IN 2004, OUSTING A PRO-MOSCOW ESTABLISHMENT BUT WAS SACKED AS PRIME MINISTER WITHIN EIGHT MONTHS, SHATTERING LIBERAL UNITY. THE OUTCOME IN SUNDAY'S PARLIAMENTARY POLL GAVE HER A COMMANDING POSITION IN TALKS TO FORM A NEW GOVERNMENT. ALTHOUGH THE REGIONS PARTY OF VIKTOR YANUKOVICH, THE PRESIDENT'S NEMESIS IN THE REVOLUTION, WON THE MOST VOTES, 'ORANGE' PARTIES TOGETHER WILL COMMAND MORE SEATS IN THE NEW LEGISLATURE. TYMOSHENKO URGED THE PRESIDENT'S ALLIES TO QUICKLY CLINCH A DEAL ON A COALITION AND SAID SHE WOULD NEVER WORK WITH ANY COALITION INVOLVING YANUKOVICH. 'I ASK THE LEADERS OF OUR UKRAINE NOT TO PUT OFF BEYOND TOMORROW, OR THE DAY AFTER AT THE VERY LATEST, DISCUSSIONS AND SIGNATURE OF A MEMORANDUM,' TYMOSHENKO TOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE. 'IT IS OUR UKRAINE WHICH IS CAUSING THE DELAY. WE INSIST ON THIS BEING SIGNED.' THE EX-PRIME MINISTER SAID POSTPONEMENT WAS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE THE TIME LOST COULD MEAN LOSING THE CHANCE TO BUILD A COALITION OF DEMOCRATIC FORCES. 'IF OUR UKRAINE BUILDS AN ALLIANCE WITH THE REGIONS PARTY, IT IS 100 PERCENT CERTAIN WE WILL GO INTO OPPOSITION.' --MORE 21 27 LOCAL TIME 18 27 GMT
