The Algerian ministry of religious affairs and endowments has announced that 55 foreigners, including men and women embraced Islam last year. The statement issued in this respect said the converts belong to various continents including Europe. As many as 42 converts are from Europe, five converts each from Africa and Asia and three from America. In the last three years, 139 persons embraced Islam in Algeria. One of the converts, Carols, a French residing in Algeria, said before worshippers at the mosque of Khulafa al-Rashideen in Algiers, he has decided to embrace Islam after his contacts with some Muslims and reading some Islamic books. 'The noble values he has read in the Holy Quran have encouraged him to embrace Islam', said his friend who had earlier provided him with a copy of the Holy Quran translated in French.
