Danish police said Friday they were investigating 10 people suspected of threatening the Jyllands-Posten daily that published controversial caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed. The newspaper has twice evacuated its staff over bomb threats in recent weeks, but no bombs have been found. Among suspects were a Norwegian national, a 49-year-old Danish national and two foreign-born teenagers, the online edition of the Politiken newspaper said, adding no arrests have been made. Some 100 threats, mainly via e-mail, have been sent to the daily. Jyllands-Posten's cultural editor Flemming Rose, who commissioned the caricatures, was to take extended enforced leave of absence. The decision was made after Rose earlier this week said he would consider publishing caricatures of Jesus as well as caricatures of the Holocaust planned by Iran. In an open letter, Chief Editor Carsten Juste said the newspaper "will not take any action which might add fuel to the fire." --More 20 15 Local Time 17 15 GMT
