At least six people were killed when heavy floods resulting from torrential rain hit several areas in southern Jordan over the past 20 hours, according to the official news agency, Petra. The floods swept tents and brick houses north of the Red Sea port of Aqaba, killing five people, Petra said. A sixth person drowned in the Maan area, about 200 kilometres south of Amman, it added.
