Secretary General of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council Abdulrahman bin Hamad Alatiyyah today concluded an official visit to Brussels during which he discussed with senior EU officials issues of mutual concern. While in Brussels, the headquarters of the European Union, Alatiyyah discussed with European officials the repercussions of the caricatures first published by a Danish newspaper and later reproduced by some European media, triggering wide-spread disgust among Muslims all over the world. Alatiyyah also discussed the outcome of Palestinian elections, situation in Iraq and negotiations between the GCC and EU on free trade agreement with European officials in charge of those files.
