Five people were killed and two others seriously injured Friday after a car crashed into a bus stop in Warsaw during the morning rush hour, police confirmed, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur (dpa). A speeding car driven by a 29-year-old man crashed into the bus stop located on a high viaduct and then fell around five metres to the ground, pulling several waiting commuters with it. The car's driver survived the accident with only minor injuries, but was hospitalized for shock. A police spokesman confirmed that reckless driving and excessive speed on an icy road caused the accident. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol, but police were investigating whether he could be held criminally responsible for involuntary manslaughter which carries a maximum prison term of up to 8 years. --SP 19 57 Local Time 16 57 GMT
