The Japanese military denied a Web site claim that insurgents have attacked Japanese soldiers in Iraq, Kyodo News agency reported Wednesday, according to AP. A group calling itself the «Iraq Islam Army» claimed on its Web site to have attacked a Japanese military vehicle in southern Iraq. But Kyodo reported that Japanese Self-Defense Forces denied any attack or injuries. No one answered the phones at the Defense Agency public affairs office in Tokyo early Wednesday. Japan has some 600 non-combat troops based in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah on a humanitarian mission.
