Incumbent Tarja Halonen is set to win the first round of Finland's presidential vote on Sunday, but will face a run-off against conservative former Finance Minister Sauli Niinisto, according to a television projection reported by Reuters. Public broadcaster YLE forecast Halonen would win 47.5 percent of the popular vote, with Niinisto second on 22.8 percent and Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen third with 19.5 percent. Halonen needs a simple majority to win in the first round, or face the second placed candidate in another vote on Jan. 29.
