At least 11 people, including 10 members of a family, were killed in a road accident in India's central Chhattisgarh state, it was reported Sunday, according to DPA. The accident took place on a highway 80 kilometres north of state capital Raipur Saturday, when a speeding truck hit the van the family was travelling in, the IANS news agency reported. "All the 11, including the driver, travelling in the Maruti van were killed on the spot," Dipanshu Kabra, a senior police officer was quoted by the agency as saying. The victims included five women, five men and a two-year-old child. Road accidents are common in India. Poor roads and reckless driving are often blamed for the numerous accidents that claim scores of lives every year.
