led identification system, which compares DNA profiles from the victims' hard tissue samples, such as bones and teeth, and blood or saliva from the living relatives. "When the State of Louisiana sent test bone samples from Katrina victims to DNA laboratories a month ago, ICMP achieved a 100 per cent success rate in obtaining profiles from them," the organization said. Once the ICMP completes extraction of DNA from the bones of the Katrina victims, the samples will be returned to Louisiana authorities for matching with family members' DNA profiles there. Besides being focused on identification of thousands of missing after the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, ICMP has also assisted in identification of the victims of last December's Indian Ocean tsunami, as well as victims of Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq. --SP 22 19 Local Time 19 19 GMT
