1425 AH, the centers and committees of social development carried out hundreds of projects, and these projects, which benefited thousands of citizens were implemented at a total cost of SR51 million. The report pointed out that the number of the cooperative societies amounts to 153 with 40,677 members. The department of the social insurance, established in 1382 AH, and which is linked to the Ministry of Social Affairs, has been undertaking the assistance of families and individuals who benefit from the system of social insurance. In Rajab 1426 AH, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz issued directives to increase the minimum allocations for the social insurance from SR 16, 200 to SR 28,000 for the family. Meanwhile, the number of social insurance offices has jumped to 78 and the allocations for the social insurance jumped to SR 3.03 billion.
