The summit is being convened in response to an appeal made in Mina during the Hajj early this year by The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, who urged OIC member countries to meet and review the situation of the Muslim world (Ummah) and arrive at a comprehensive solution to their common problems. In preparation for the summit, several conferences by senior Ulema (Muslim scholars) and thinkers were held to address various concerns from across the Islamic world . Prince Turki Bin Mohammad Bin Saud Al-Kabeer, head of the OIC senior officials meeting last Wednesday in Jeddah and assistant foreign minister for Political Affairs, said the draft 10-year plan was discussed in a very cordial atmosphere and "we accepted the amendments and changes." The OIC foreign ministers will start arriving Monday for their meeting Tuesday at the Conference Palace in Jeddah where they will approve the 10-year draft plan for submission to the heads of state on Wednesday for its final endorsement.
