Dr Ahmad Mohammed Ali, the President of Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB), met here today officials in charge of Hajj affairs at the embassies and consulates of the Muslim countries to brief them on the project of the sacrificial meat utilization. He noted that the project, established 24 years ago, aims at the utilization of the sacrificial meet taking into account the importance of the preservation of the environment. Dr Ali noted that the project, which works under teh supervision of the IDB, has succeeded in providing poor Muslims in Makkah and in the Muslim counties and communities with sacrificial meat. Dr Ali said the Saudi government had spent more than SR 1 billion for implementing the project of modern n slaughter houses and providing them with modern equipment. He pointed out that about 18,000 butchers and assistant butchers and administrators in addition to about 700 veterinarians and 600 supervisors will work at the project during the Hajj season. Dr Ali said during last year's Hajj season poor Muslims in 23 countries benefited from the sacrificial meat.
