U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan will visit four Asian capitals starting next week and attend the World Trade Organization conference in Hong Kong, a spokesman said Wednesday according to dpa. Annan will leave this weekend for Beijing as the first stop and will then go to Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong and finally Hanoi. His schedules call for talks with government officials, focusing on reform of the United Nations. The precise dates of his visits were withheld for security reasons. He will also attend the opening session of the WTO ministerial conference.
