The Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al-Obaid stressed that translation and Arabicization represent the most important civilization tributaries to the history of nations and humankind, proposing to set up a Fund affiliated to the Arab League to finance Translation and Arabicization Commission. Addressing the inaugural session of the 12th Annual Conference of Arab Tongue Association here, Dr. Al-Obaid reviewed the Kingdom's efforts in this field including the set up of Saudi Association for Languages and Translation, King Fahd Scientific Center for Translation, Translation Centers at Saudi Universities and Standing Committee for Translation and Arabicization. Dr. Al-Obaid pointed out that translation and Arabicization are considered as instruments for refuting all malicious campaigns against Islam and Muslims and for bridging the knowledge gap of others about Islam as a religion rejecting terrorism, fanaticism and deviant thought. The Conference inaugurated on Monday and honored among others Dr. Al-Obaid and Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Nassif, Chairman of Conference of Muslim World Organization. On his part, the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa welcomed in his speech Dr. Al-Obaid's proposal for the establishment of the Fund.
