Saudi Arabia's Shoura (Consultative) Council has welcomed Saudi Arabia's membership in The World Trade Organization (WTO) and affirmed that it would positively contribute to carrying out programs of economic reforms in the Kingdom. This observation was made by the Shoura Council's Chairman Dr Saleh bin Humaid in an address at the resumption of the Council's deliberations last night in Riyadh. Following Bin Humaid's speech, the Council discussed a number of topics including the unified GCC system for combating glut caused by imported commodities which harm the Gulf Industry and the preventive measures in this respect. The draft of the system was presented by the Shoura's foreign relations committee. Meanwhile, the Council was briefed on a report submitted by the foreign affairs committee pertaining to ratification of the amendment of some articles of the Arab League's convention. On the other hand, the Council discussed a report submitted by the social affairs, family and workforce committee on a proposal pertaining to the establishment a higher council for family affairs. -SPA 1228 Local Time 0928 GMT
