A Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior delegation, headed by the Director General of the Immigration Department, Brigadier Abdullah Yousif Al-Ruweih is currently visiting the Australian capital, Canberra. The Kuwaiti ambassador to Australia, Nasser Hajji Al-Mazyan told The Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) Monday that this visit comes in response to an invitation from the Australian Ministry of Immigration, Agriculture and Indigenous Affairs. The ambassador added that the Kuwaiti delegation will be meeting several officials from the Immigration Ministry with the aim of discussing various aspects of bilateral cooperation in the immigration, residency and borders fields, in addition to the issue of visas and passports through the internet. The specialized Australian authorities in the immigration ministry enlisted Kuwait within the first group as regards the issuance of the electronic visas for the students wishing to purse their studies in Australia, and so starting this month, Kuwaitis could enroll in the Australian colleges, institutions and schools through the Australian ministry of immigration's website, the ambassador indicated. He added that the approval of the applications will also be received within a few days, also through the internet. Al-Mazyan noted that such a step is in the best interest of the students as it is faster and cheaper. The Kuwaiti delegation includes Director of the research and follow-up department Sheikh Colonel Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah, assistant director of the ports department Colonel Talal Ibrahim Maarafie and assistant director of the capital immigration Colonel Adel Hassan Al-Sadoun.
