One person was killed and six were injured in a bomb blast Wednesday in the centre of the southeastern Turkish town of Semdinli, the Anadolu news agency reported. The bomb exploded in a small passage between two buildings in the centre of the town, according to DPA. Locals attempted to lynch a man who they believed was behind the blast, but police intervened and took the man, whose identity was not released into custody. Three Kalashnikov rifles were found in a nearby car and confiscated by police. The attempted lynching turned into a mini-riot with bystanders throwing rocks at police. The mayor of Semdinli, Hursit Tekin, was taken to hospital after being hit in the head by a rock. Wednesday's blast came a week after another bomb blast in the town that injured 23 people. A statement released by the governor of the province of Hakkari said that blast was most likely carried out by the rebel Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK).
