In implementation of the directives of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior and General Supervisor of Saudi Popular Campaign for Assisting the People affected by the earthquake recently hit Pakistan, the First Relief Convoy run by the Campaign will leave Riyadh on Sunday for King Abdulaziz Seaport, Dammam in preparation for shipping it by sea to Pakistan. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Saed Al-Urabi Al-Harithi, Advisor to the Interior Minister and Campaign's Chairman said that the convoy is the first fruit of the Campaign called by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for supporting the affected people in Pakistan and for relieving their sufferings. He pointed out that the convoy comprises 100 containers loaded with large quantities of tents, blankets and foodstuffs, noting that it will arrive in Pakistan in the next few days and it will be followed by a number of relief convoys carrying foodstuffs and medical supplies. Dr. Al-Harithi noted that the Campaign had assigned a Saudi team to provide relief assistance and it had contributed in distributing 500 tents and large quantities of dates in Mansehra and Blakot, Pakistan. The Campaign will open a regional office in Islamabad, he added.
