Maltese police said on Sunday they had recovered five bodies thought to be migrants who drowned in the Mediterranean, according to Reuters. They were found in the sea 10 to 15 miles east of the island in the afternoon after a fisherman spotted one of them. None carried identification documents. The police said they feared more corpses will be found when a search resumes on Monday. Many African migrants seeking a better life try to cross the Mediterranean to enter Europe illegally. Many end up in Malta, now a member of the European Union.
