The crash of a Russian helicopter in Azerbaijan that killed all five members of its crew was caused by a technical malfunction, officials said Sunday. The Ka-32 helicopter crashed late Saturday in the Goychay region of Azerbaijan, about 200 kilometers (about 125 miles) west of the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. Azerbaijani officials said it had been chartered by the United Nations for a relief mission in earthquake-stricken Pakistan. Russian Embassy spokesman Gennady Yevsyukov said that the crash was caused by a technical problem which was still being determined. He told The Associated Press that investigators had found one of the helicopter's rotor blades several kilometers (miles) away from the crash site, suggesting that its loss led to the crash.
