Controversial Irish politician dies in car crash in Moscow

Controversial Irish politician Liam Lawlor died in a car crash in northern Moscow, Irish media reported Saturday, dpa reported.
Lawlor, 61, who was jailed three times for not cooperating with an inquiry into alleged improper planning deals in Dublin, died when the Mercedes he was travelling in from Moscow airport crashed into a street lamp in the Himki district at 1 a.m. (2100 GMT October 21).
The driver of the car also died in the crash and a Ukrainian woman passenger was taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries, Ireland's RTE channel reported.
