Venezuela's state oil company shut one processing unit at its 180,000-barrel-a-day Puerto La Cruz refinery, the company said in a statement Tuesday, according to AP. State-run Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., PDVSA, did not give a reason for the shutdown, which occurred late Saturday and continued as of Tuesday afternoon. A company spokesman was unable to say how much of production the unit accounts for. The Puerto la Cruz refinery exports some of its production, but mainly supplies gasoline and other products for the east of Venezuela. «We are maintaining distribution of consumables and products to our domestic and international clients,» PDVSA said. It said the rest of the refinery was functioning normally. The refinery was shut down temporarily in early September due to a power failure.
