Indonesia withdrew more than 2,100 more troops from Aceh on Tuesday and rebels completed their second round of weapons decommissioning, both sides moving quickly to implement a peace agreement to end one of Asia's longest running wars. Dozens of locals turned up at Lhokseumawe port in north Aceh to wave the soldiers off. The head of the EU-led monitoring mission overseeing the peace accord, which was signed two months ago in Finland, was also present. "Hopefully, this can really lead to an eternal peace here," said one marine, Lt. Col. I Ketut Suwarya. The 2,163 soldiers who left Tuesday were the first batch of some 6,000 troops slated to be pulled out this week. The military has already withdrawn some 6,500 soldiers under the agreement, The Associated Press reported.
