GENEINA, Sudan, Oct 6, SPA-- Chad has closed its consulate in the Sudanese region of Darfur, after cross-border raids and fighting, the governor of West Darfur state said, according to Reuters. Jaafar Abdel Hakim Ishag told reporters late on Wednesday that Chad had informed local authorities of the decision. "We very much regret their decision to close the consulate here because Sudan and Chad have very good relations," he said. Chad said this week that it was planning to close its consulate in El-Geneina because of insecurity in the region.
