The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia held a symposium here today to mark the 50 anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan. Speaking to the gathering, Ambassador Faisal bin Hasan Tirad of the Kingdom to Japan, said women are half community. He cited late King Abdulaziz as instructing that female Muslims should be taken care of. Elementary education rate for women amounted to 100, and the number of students in Saudi Arabia surpassed five million, half of them are females, he said. He said women in Saudi Arabia have assumed prestigious positions, citing Thuraya bint Obeid, the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations for Population Affairs.
