In line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, the Saudi ambassador to the US, participated in the activities of the conference of 'Clinton's International Initiate' Clinton's International Initiative, established by Former US President Bill Clinton, is an organization which is concerned with the "Dialogue between the West and Islam." In an address at the session of the Dialogue, Prince Turki underlined the importance of realizing the goals of democracy through enabling citizens and other segments of the community to participate in the process of decision-making. As regards the ongoing reform process in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Turki said 'the Kingdom has been adopting the policy of gradual reforms and not the policy of imposition of reforms on the society'. He pointed out that the view of the Saudi society towards women have been changed. "However, this change has not come through imposition of legislations, but by encouraging women to get educated and acquire her rights approved by Islam." On fringes of the conference, Prince Turki met with Former US President Bill Clinton, who highlighted the existing friendly relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States. More than 800 international officials, who are currently attending the 60th session of the UN's General Assembly, have participated in the three-day conference of Clinton's International Initiative, held on the fringes of the meetings of the UN's General Assembly. The participants of the conference of Clinton's International Initiative have reviewed a number of international issues including means of combating poverty; climate changes; epidemics; means of improving governmental services and the international efforts toward global development and growth.
