Pirates attacked fishermen with knives on about 80 boats and threw the crews overboard injuring more than 100 people in southern Bangladesh over the past two days, a news report said Saturday. Two were missing. The fishing vessels were attacked in the Meghna River, 104 kilometers (65 miles) south of the capital, Dhaka, the United News of Bangladesh reported. Most of the fishermen were rescued by passing fishing boats, it said. Two remained missing, however. The injured were being treated at hospitals, the report said. Extra police and coast guards were patrolling the area, local police official Mozammel Hossain was quoted as saying.
